How to Prepare Instagram for Connecting to clipledger

To let clipledger get view statistics for your Instagram videos, you need a professional Instagram account linked to a Facebook Page.

Setup takes four steps. If you have already completed a step, move on to the next one.

Before you start

You will need:

  • The Instagram account you want to connect to clipledger.
  • A personal Facebook account that you use to manage the Page.
  • A Facebook Page — an existing one or a new one.
  • Access to the social account settings in clipledger.

Your personal Facebook profile and a Facebook Page are different things. A Page represents a brand, project or public presence. You manage it through your personal profile. Simply adding Instagram and Facebook to Meta’s Accounts Center is not enough: Instagram must be linked to a Facebook Page.

Step 1. Switch to a professional Instagram account

Already have a Creator or Business account? Move on to step 2. clipledger supports both.

  1. Open Instagram and go to your profile.
  2. Open the menu and find your account type settings. Section names may vary depending on your app version.
  3. Choose Switch to professional account.
  4. Pick the category that best describes what you do. It does not have to match the topic of your clipledger campaigns.
  5. Choose Creator or Business and finish setup.

A professional Instagram account is public. Before switching, check your privacy settings and the information that will appear on your profile.

Step 2. Create a Facebook Page if you do not have one

Already manage a Facebook Page? You do not need to create another one — move on to step 3.

  1. Sign in to Facebook with your personal account.
  2. Open Pages.
  3. Choose the option to create a new Page.
  4. Enter a name and choose a suitable category.
  5. Finish creating the Page. You can fill in optional fields and extra settings later.

clipledger needs the Page as a linked Meta resource. You do not have to actively run it or publish content on it.

Step 4. Connect Instagram to clipledger

  1. Sign in to clipledger and open the social account settings in your workspace.
  2. Click Connect Instagram.
  3. Sign in with the Facebook account that manages the right Page.
  4. If Meta asks you to choose Pages and accounts, allow access to the ones you need and confirm the requested permissions.
  5. When you return to clipledger, check that the right Instagram account is connected.

If you manage several Instagram accounts: the current clipledger integration may automatically choose the first eligible account available through Facebook. If the wrong account connects, contact support before changing the links between Pages.

If the connection does not work

Instagram does not appear during connection

Check that your Instagram account is professional (Creator or Business), is linked to a Facebook Page, and that you are signing in with a Facebook profile that has access to that Page.

I cannot see my Facebook Page

Make sure you are signed in to the right personal Facebook profile. If someone else or an organization manages the Page, ask them to check your access.

Instagram is linked to Facebook, but clipledger cannot find it

A link through Meta’s Accounts Center does not always mean Instagram is connected to a Facebook Page. Open the Page’s own settings → Linked accounts → Instagram and check the connection there.

Authorization ended with an error

Try connecting again from clipledger, complete all of Meta’s confirmation prompts and check the permissions you allowed. If the error happens again, contact support with the error text, your Instagram username and the Facebook Page name.

Never send support your passwords, verification codes or access tokens.
